About Mati Kala Kendra pottery maker

Our Heritage

At Mati Kala Kendra, we take great pride in our rich heritage in the ceramics and pottery industry. For generations, our family has been devoted to crafting beautiful, functional, and artistic pottery, a tradition we continue today by combining time-honored techniques with modern design sensibilities.

Established in 1940, even before India’s independence, Mati Kala Kendra stands as one of the most renowned and oldest pottery centers in East Champaran district. With a legacy spanning over eight decades, we remain dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional craft of earthenware pottery.

Our expertise covers a wide range of high-quality products, including cups, kulhads, lassi glasses, water matkas, bottles, handis, statues of deities, and an extensive variety of decorative diyas and pots for all festivals and special occasions.

Committed to supporting local artisanship, Mati Kala Kendra has become a trusted name in the region, known for delivering handcrafted excellence that celebrates the beauty, sustainability, and cultural significance of earthenware pottery.

Our Design Philosophy

At Mati Kala Kendra, our design philosophy is deeply rooted in simplicity, functionality, and sustainability. We believe that ceramics should not only captivate with their beauty but also serve a meaningful purpose in daily life. Each piece we create is thoughtfully designed to bring harmony between form and function, ensuring it enhances both the aesthetic and practical experience of those who use it.

Inspired by nature’s elegance, we focus on clean lines, organic shapes, and the authentic textures of pure, chemical-free soil. We embrace the minimalist aesthetic, valuing the quiet strength and timeless appeal of earthenware made from natural materials. Every pot, kulhad, lassi glass, or diya we craft is a tribute to the earth itself celebrating its ability to cool, purify, and preserve the essence of what it holds.

We intentionally avoid artificial glazes or chemical treatments, staying true to traditional methods that allow the natural minerals in the clay to shine through. This not only enhances the health benefits of using earthenware, like preserving minerals and promoting natural taste but also aligns with our commitment to eco-friendly, sustainable craftsmanship. For us, true beauty lies in simplicity, authenticity, and purpose.

Our Products

At Mati Kala Kendra, we take pride in offering a diverse and thoughtfully crafted range of earthenware products that blend style, tradition, and functionality. Our collection includes everyday essentials such as plates, bowls, mugs, teapots, matkas, kulhads, bottles, handis, and biryani pots,  all made from pure, chemical-free clay. Each piece is designed to elevate everyday dining experiences by enhancing the natural taste and preserving the nutritional qualities of food and beverages.

In addition to functional ware, we also create a wide variety of decorative and festive items. From intricately crafted diyas and lamps to beautifully detailed statues of deities, our products bring warmth and cultural charm to homes during festivals and special occasions. We offer customized decorative pots, planters, and artistic pieces that are perfect for gifting or adding an earthy, aesthetic touch to any space.
